I ordered this shredder through Amazon and had a problem from the start. The shredder bin has a tab that must trip a safety sensor when inserted.
When I first got this shredder, the tab was broken. To their credit, Fellowes shipped me a new bin when I filed a case (but they closed the case before I got it).
Now the new bin tab is still not long enough to trip the sensor so one can use the shredder.
This is my third Fellowes shredder . . . and my last. Poor, poor design. Avoid it.

I had the same experience that G. Wasiluk did – the safety sensor tab was broken off when I received the product. So, I sent it back to Amazon.com, and got a full refund. I think that because of the flimsiness of this particular part, this product does not fare well during shipping.

I own a small business and do a lot of shredding of paperwork. The employee that uses this regularly is very pleased with it, compared to a lighter duty shredder from from the same manufacturer; which we overused and wore out. We are all impressed with how quiet this unit is, and she is very happy that it hasn’t yet jammed; after owning it for a couple of months. The safety feature is also a nice plus. I would recommend this for home or small business use.

This is an outstanding home office shredder. I upgraded from a smaller version from the same supplier and the difference is clear. This unit is much more powerful – 15 sheets or so with ease ; larger capacity and has a very effective automatic un-jamming system so that it clears itself when problems occur. I ran it for 2 days straight doing a heap of clean up of files and it just cruised through. Highly recommended.

If you want a shredder that looks and costs heavy-duty, but with the performance of a much smaller and cheaper product, then the SB-99Ci is for you. Despite its size, it has the shredding power of an oscillating fan. Seriously. Supposedly it can handle up to 17 sheets of paper at a time, but in my experience it jams regularly with only 6. It also overheats after about 15 minutes of exertion and has to have a rest, like an old man with emphysema walking around the mall. The “Safe Sense” technology, which stops the shredder if your fingers get too close to the paper feed, is annoying and pointless. No human finger could fit down that slot and get anywhere near the teeth. Unless your office is staffed by long, spindly-fingered elves all the Safe Sense does is slow you down.
I guess if you only shred a few documents from time to time this shredder is fine. But if you have even a moderate amount of stuff to shred, plan on spending the day. And a LOT of frustration.
