I have been keenly interested in the ASUS G73JW-AI ROG Super Gaming Laptop for some time and plan on having mine customized in the near future laid out with two Solid State Drives!
This is the computer to GET and to make it EVEN better; to turn it into a DREAM MACHINE I would recommend the following to the two gentleman at ASUS who designed it:
1. Nvidia GTX [480] Graphics placement
2. Add an e-Sata interface
3. Include an HDMI Input (with the standard output)
4. Create a DVD Player SLOT (instead of the current slide-out tray)
5. Upgrade the 2.0 megapixel webcam to a 3.0 (or better)
Thank You Amazon for allowing my comment. I am already a re-subscriber to Your mega-Site!

Update [10/13/10]:
I Ordered the ASUS G73 JW-A1 Super Gaming Laptop from another Wonderful website as I wanted to customize this Powerhouse with the Intel X25-M SATA Solid State Drives. I am barely able to contain myself with the thought of receiving this Much Anticipated product!
Once I receive This Monster I shall report back my findings to the Amazon.com connoisseurs.
Thanks to the reviews I read on Amazon.com I was able to make the smart wise decision to purchase said Laptop from ASUS.

Let me start out by saying this is a great laptop, very fast, wish it came with the 480m, but I know that would bump up the price. Also the no RAID option is a bit of a let down but no biggy..
Now on to the problem, about a week into purchasing this laptop I get a frozen screen, no problem I thought so I rebooted. On boot up it took me to the system repairing screen, not alowing me to start up windows. Called Asus for troubleshooting, told me I had to reinstall with F9, so I did, and the problem persisted.
So now Im sending the laptop back to Amazon for a replacement, hopefully the new one they send me has no problems.

i got this new laptop for 1450 on amazon and there are many things i dont like about it rather than i really do!
1) the laptop lags everytime i am trying to type. the keyboard lags especially if you type fast. i am a college student and i need to write many papers, well this isnt the best laptop for it….sony vaio is much better…
2) the screen freezes everytime i run a video online on full screen..i upgraded all the drivers and every update available…it still does the same…
3) every time i plug or unplug ac power, it blanks out for a second and comes back, most of the time the desktop wallpaper disappears.
4) the mouse touch pad acts funny, just from no where it will click on by itself or places i dont even wanna go…
5) the computer crashed with a blue screen when i tried to run Steam….i thought this was a gaming laptop…and the damn keypad is lagging while i am writing this….
6) the sound is not as loud as it sounds when the configuration says it has a sub woofer…my sony sounds better than this..and it cost 1100 and its 4 years old…
7) some of the updates dont work…it just says some error occurred..
now for the best part..this is the second time i ordered asus g73 jw xa1 from amazon, cause the first one did the same….thanks amazon for being soo kind enough to send another one with no charge..but Asus has to go back to its drawing board to fix this laptop…it has all the cool features…hd , 1.5gb vram..etc..but the laptop cant seem to handle all this at once…and the key pad is a very poor quality…..

first off for performance? it will play crysis at 1920×1080 on medium settings at about 35-40 fps, so it is playable at high quality, however i never use the highest settings in my games i like to give the cpu and gpu a little breathing room. that being said it runs at 50-60 fps at 1280×720 which is fine with me i can’t tell any difference in quality at that resolution. my cpu reaches around 65 to 70 degrees C and the gpu has gone as high as 75 degrees but it seems to be ok? stable with no errors at least while gaming! very slick design and designed like a tank compared to those computers that start with the letter D! now for the things that annoy me! i got the bluetooth and bluray model i have no complaints on the bluray except that for that kind of money it should be able to burn blueray discs not just play them. however the bluetooth thing is a joke with a crap drive that causes errors all the time! it says something about cannot start the bluetooth stack service? it even does it after disabling the device? the web cam is total junk it is very slow and unresponsive at any resolution! i did not buy this computer for the webcam, but once again for the money paid i would expect better quality in all departments! however overall i like the laptop, i wanted to play crysis, doom3, and tomb raider legend on a laptop, and that it does very well! and the full hd led screen is amazingly clear and bright with excellent colors! i think that is my favorite feature! oh yeah i tried the webcam of 3 different softwares and it did the same on all 3 so if you want to video chat with your buddies then i would skip this computer, but if you want amazing graphics and gameplay and portiablility then it could be for you? unless your a 15 year old girl then it may be a bit heavy for you to lug around? but the screen real estate is well worth it to me. i actually wanted an 18.4 inch one but the makers of those laptops seem to have an overheating problem that has not been resolved yet? but i am glad i went with asus it is a nice computer overall and no matter what brand you buy you’ll probably have a few buggy drivers and a bunch of bloatware to uninstall?

I bought this computer because of the stated capability, under technical details that says the computer is upgradable to 16gb of ram. This is an entirely false detail, as I can personally attest to as I installed 16gb of ram and it wasn’t recognized, only 8gb of ram was. I wanted to know why, so I checked with ASUS and this model was not within the regular configuration norms stated on their website for the G73jw series, so they had to look it up by the serial number, after which they told me that it could only handle 8gb of ram. They, not telling me specifically why, I checked with Intel regarding the i7 processor’s ability to interact with ram and the max amount of ram that it was capable of interacting with, which is 8gb of ram. So, in short, no stock laptop with even an i7 laptop Extreme processor running at 2.13ghz x4 cores x8 threads can handle more than 8gb of ram. Only, if the laptop is modified either by messing with the original processor or by having a desktop processor installed (some Sager laptops use desktop processors) can it handle more than 8gb. I gave this 3 stars based on Amazon.com misrepresenting the capabilities of the computer, however the computer with regards to its quality and functionality seem quite good. The keyboard wasn’t aligned correctly upon arrival (physical damage) and the num pad does not have a stump on the 5, so that while typing, my brain can know where my fingers are on the num pad, this makes it much more efficient. As I wanted this for business use, this was disappointing. I am returning the laptop as it was falsely advertised as to what it is capable of, but, if you know and understand what it comes with and is capable of exactly, it just might be worth getting.
