This case doesn’t match up with the iPhone4 very well, so it’s going to limit the functionality of your iPhone4. The case tends to fog up very easily, which does not happen with the OtterBox built for the iPhone 3G. The case is very difficult to open and swap out. The instructions that came with the case were very poorly written. I’m very disappointed, the previous cases OtterBox built were a much better design.

This case is terrible!

1. After ONE day of use, indoors, carrying it in my pocket(I don’t like belt clips), the proximity sensor widow and front facing camera were full of lint and debris(and yes, the pants were clean – don’t go there). I cleaned it out and gave it another day. Different pants, same results. Only this time, it was so bad, the proximity sensor didn’t turn off the screen and front camera view looked like I was looking through a bug-spattered windshield.

2. Otterbox CLAIMS to have gotten rid of the “oilslick” look on the screen. They have not. After two days in the Defender, the screen of my iPhone looked like it had been dipped in the Gulf of Mexico.

3. I foolishly believed several reviews that said it was not the “brick” that the 3G/3GS Defender was. I have to disagree.

I understand that there are people who need and feel they need this type of cover for their phone. I’m obviously not one of them. This case is going back.

Pros:Screen protector, two-layer case

Cons: Bulky, the Headphone port wouldnt allow any jack to go through the hole and reach the iphone not really sure why its there, speakers have no plugins

Overall decent case, but sorta disapointed, all my friends with 3gs spoke so highly of their otterbox so i got one and sorta disapointed with it, its like they didnt put an iphone in it to make sure everything fit’d right.

I have tried two different cases and several screen protectors. This works perfectly… no watermark or bubbles on the screen. The case feels solid and the fit is precise. I was really getting frustrated with the film screen protectors… this looks fantastic.

I had the Defender series for my 3Gs and I LOVED it. I loved it so much I almost didn’t want the new iPhone because I didn’t want to be without a case.

As for this new Defender, it is NOT the same as the previous generation.

Issues:

LINT, LINT, and more LINT. This thing just seems to collect lint. I put it in the holster (get to that later) and after a half day of use it was cover in lint. Come on those diamonds on the back are just valleys waiting to be filled with lint and dirt. I did not put this in my pocket, just in the holster.

The HOLSTER:

The last series was FABULOUS this holster with the centered clip, and longitudinal “pocket and clip” force a horizontal orientation. Might as well get rid of the rotational device on the back because it is useless. With the centered clip the phone sits too high in the vertical position, and the “pocket” is weird for a vertical position. I liked the last design.

The Silicon cover seems cheap and flimsy. I am not sure that it will last, this was a concern for the last design, but the new phone came before the cover wore out so can’t complain.

Screen Protector gets the oil slick rings. Anyone who says otherwise is itching for a fight!

Just not what I thought it would be for the name (Otterbox) and the money (paid full price).

It is going back ASAP.
