The AmazonBasics Universal Camera Case FF (Black) is made in China and like much of the products from there provides the customer with what is adequate and nothing more. For example, the strap handle for the case is what normally would be supplied with a small digital camera (see photo). The loop portion being just a thick thread instead of something more appropriate, like a clip.

The Velcro base on the case is just large enough, effective length less than 1 inch, in size (see photo) to hold inside an exact fit item or smaller with the flap cover completely mated to the base pad. Stow in the case an item 0.25″ (increasing the case circumference by 0.5″) larger and the Velcro on the case flap makes only partial contact with the base pad and less than secure. Since this generic Universal Camera Case has to be purchased sight unseen and not a custom fit case for a specific camera, should have been more flexible in function (see photo).

Giving the case a cheap, patchwork appearance is the miss matching cut Velcro base for the cover flap (see photo). Here it looks like someone grabbed an extra left over part for a different case and sewed it on.

It maybe that the flush zippered compartment was a design afterthought. With a zipper integrated, prevented the use of a more practical and functional Velcro base pad. The small flush zippered side pocket is a helpful feature and will accommodate a couple encased compact flash cards. A naked SD card or Memory Stick swims about in this pocket and can be troublesome to remove after migrating into a corner.

The belt loop on the case does not have a snap as a backup measure, but for the price, would not expect there to be one.

As for the zipper pull tab and what looks to be the most expensive item on the case, would prefer it if Amazon simply used a subtle or single dark color pull tab. The AmazonBasics badge, in my opinion makes a cheap product look tacky.

Considering the low cost of labor in China, the large number of cases that can be stuffed into a cardboard box and that I can purchase a similar product in Shanghai for less than $3.50 (20 RMB), would not be willing to pay a single penny more for this product then the current $5.99 selling price.

Minus 0.25 for supplying a weak compact camera strap, instead of a real case strap.

Minus 0.25 for a Universal generic case having too specific functional tolerances.

Minus 0.25 for the patch work appearance of the Velcro base.

Minus 0.25 for the tacky and shamelessly badged AmazonBasic zipper pull tab.

It would not surprise me to learn that some that dislike the review have a stake in the product.

I bought this for my Sanyo Xacti CG10 camcorder and it has room for more! It is quality made. I love the foam padding which would give my camera extra protection for those accidents.

I hoped the shipping was a little bit sooner.

I wish Amazon would make more affordable but quality made products!
